Expanded Art Resource: Oxford Art Online (August, 2008)
The Grove Art Online service has been expanded and is now called Oxford Art Online. While retaining the content from the foremost scholarly encyclopedia in the field, The Dictionary of Art by Grove, this expanded service now includes the Oxford Companion to Western Art, the Encyclopedia of Aesthetics, and the Concise Oxford Dictionary of Art Terms.
Expanded Music Resource: Oxford Music Online (August, 2008)
The Grove Music Online service has been expanded and is now called Oxford Music Online. While retaining all of the content of the leading English-language music encyclopedias
(the Grove Dictionary of Music and Musicians, the Grove Dictionary of Opera, and the Grove Dictionary of Jazz),
this expanded service now includes the Oxford Companion to Music and the Oxford Dictionary of Music.
New Journal Archive: Wiley - Blackwell Backfiles (July, 2008)
The University Library has added access to the backfiles (older issues) available through the library's Wiley - Blackwell subscription.
Instead of being limited to content published in the last ten years, he CSU Stanislaus community can now access journal issues starting with volume 1, issue 1 (when available)
for each title part of the library's subscription.

New Journal Archive: JSTOR Arts & Sciences VI (July, 2008)
The University Library has added a subscription to the new JSTOR Arts & Sciences VI collection, ensuring the CSU Stanislaus community will continue to have comprehensive access to the JSTOR
Collections. JSTOR archives older content of over 1100 academic journals. For most titles, access via JSTOR starts with the first issue of a journal and runs through issues published 3 to 5 years ago. more information
Change in Journal Collection Services: Synergy-Blackwell merges with Wiley Interscience (July, 2008)
Effective July 1, 2008, these two journal collections have been merged. All 1400+ journals that are part of the University Library's subscription to these collections are now available via the Wiley Interscience website.

The winners of the 2008 Warrior Book Collection Contest received their awards during a ceremony held on May 9th in the University Library foyer. The foyer contains a display highlighting the winners, their entries, and provides samples of their winning collections.
Poetry Chapbooks of the 1960's (April, 2008) For National Poetry month, Special Collections has on display in the West Reading Room works from the 1960s (considered a time of renaissance for poetry) that utilized an old format: chapbooks. Chapbooks are a genre of pocket-size booklets, many of which are bound with paper covers and contain few pages. These books, whose origins date back to the 16th century, had a resurgence of popularity in the 1960's among poets. This display features several chapbooks, dating from the 60's, from notable poets such as Michael McClure, Josephine Miles, Paul Goodman, and more. Survey on Student Research Experience (April, 2008) We need your help! Please take 5 minutes to let us know how your experience with library research and online tutorials. The survey will be available online until April 18, 2008. Reading by Christopher Coake (April, 2008) Named one of the Best Young American Novelists by Granta magazine, the author (profile) will read from We're in Trouble, his debut story collection of tales of love in the face of tragedy. University Library, West Reading Room, Friday, April 4 from 2:00-3:30 PM Expanded Quiet Study Areas (February, 2008) The University Library strives to provide a variety of spaces that facilitate different learning styles and research and study needs. This includes offering Quiet Study Areas, now outlined on the University Library Floor Plan. Warrior Book Contest (February, 2008) Students who have built a collection of books based on a theme of interest to them are encouraged to submit an entry to the Warrior Book Collection Contest. Started by Brian Duggan of the Faculty Multimedia Center in 2005, the contest awards cash prizes to the winning collections each spring. The winner is also eligible to compete in the National Collegiate Book Collecting Contest. New Library Catalog (January, 2008) The University Library will implement a new Library Catalog for the 2008 Spring Term. The new system will replace OLLIE, and offer more robust searching as well as easier to read, more detailed displays of library holdings. Some features of this system will be activated in the days and weeks before the start of Spring Term on February 13. Please visit the library's website for announcements regarding the availability of the new system. Dissertations Available Online: Proquest Dissertations and Theses (January, 2008) This online resource provides citations to and descriptions (abstracts) of over 1 million dissertations and theses written for humanities and social sciences degrees. It also includes access to the full-text (in PDF) of most of these dissertations written since 1997. Compiled from the UMI (University Microfilms International) collection of dissertations. Journal Articles Available Online: Military and Government Collection (January, 2008) This online resource searches citations to and descriptions of 400 journals and other periodicals on military and related governmental topics, including the cover-to-cover full-text for nearly 300 of these sources. ome publications covered in this database include Air Force Comptroller, Army Reserve Magazine, Defence Studies, JFQ: Joint Force Quarterly, Military Technology, Combat Edge, FBI Law Enforcement Bulletin, Foreign Affairs, Naval Forces, and many more.
